To Sarah's family -
I met Sarah because her husband, Dick, was a Hanover College alum. I visited with them both many times on behalf of the college and also kept in contact with Sarah even after Dick died. They were two of my favorite people to visit. Sarah was amazing. She was such a loving and caring person. I was impressed with her ability to tell jokes, which she said she learned from her first husband (I think) who was a salesman and always had a joke to tell. She refrained from telling me some of the bawdier ones, she said!!! A funny, sharp-witted, fun person to be around. I had not spoken with her in a while but she was always a bright spot in my day when visiting or talking on the phone. My condolences to all of the family.

I talked with Sarah the day before her celebrating her 99th birthday in Madison. She was lookin forward to that. When she returned to Cumberland Trace, she said she had many good memories and was glad to have been able to go to Madison.
She also loved her cat. She would let it out into the hallway, but the cat would return upon hearing Sarah's voice to "come".
Sarah was a joy and inspiration to many of us here.
May you continue to share the many joyous memories.
