I am deeply saddened at the loss of a good friend and colleague. Don was such a kind and caring man. We enjoyed talking about basketball, especially the IU Hoosiers. I was on at least one IUSD committee with him and from this I learned he was a very fair and caring man. Eternal rest grant to him, O Lord. May he rest in peace.

Dr. Don was a professor of mine in dental school. He was hands down the most compassionate and effective instructor that I have ever encountered. He was just a nice guy. He inspired me to go into a general practice, and to also to become an instructor in the team clinic when it was restarted. His leadership in administering the Team Clinic repeatedly earned the clinic the "best clinic" award as voted on by the students. He influenced many and really made a difference in many lives. God bless!

Judy and I returned home from Michigan Monday night and learned of Don's death. I am so shocked to say the least. I have such fond memories of working with Don when he was Park Commissioner..Yet the greatest tribute to Don is the wonderful good, moral Christian man that he was. Don has left a legacy for all to see about his life. Judy and I send our deepest synpathy to you both and the family.

To a grand man who lived his Christian principles, Dr. Tharp was without question the most moral, kind, caring boss I ever worked for. He displayed his love for family, the students at IUSD, and his staff every day. My condolences to Gail, Maureen and his treasured grandchildren. He will be missed by so many.
