Our beloved mother Wilma Sue Peterman, 79, of Plainfield, Indiana passed away, peacefully on October 10, 2023. Her daughter, Dana, lay beside her holding her hand at home. Wilma was known to many as Susan, Sue, or Subie. She was born in Clinton, Kentucky on May 20th, 1944, to the late Oscer Haywood Mason and Eula Mae Conner Rinehart (William Rinehart).
Subie was a stay-at-home mom for 22 years until she started working outside the home cleaning office buildings. She later worked as a nanny and housekeeper, always caring for others. There were no strangers to Subie when it came to helping someone in need. If there was a need, she was happily there to help them. She was a member of Lynhurst Baptist Church. She took comfort in knowing that she would be spending eternity in heaven, with God.
Subie was a loving and caring mother. She found great joy in spending time with her family and friends, especially while boating. Subie also enjoyed working in her beautiful yard, crafting, camping, traveling, cooking, and bird watching.
Subie is survived by her 5 children: Sheila Ellis, Pam (Gary) Pedigo, Angie Knuckles, Dana (Andrew) House and Melanie Messer; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; ex-husband, William Peterman.
Subie was preceded in death by her parents: Oscer Haywood Mason and Eula Mae Conner Rinehart (William Rinehart); the love of her life for 33 years, Gene Gibbons; 2 grandchildren: Skylor Messer and Jordan House; 1 great-grandchild, Jackson Pedigo.
Subie’s presence in our lives was a blessing. Her memory will always be cherished.
She taught us all so many things and inspired us to be our best selves. Even though she is no longer with us, she lives on in the hearts of those who loved her.
