Obituary

William W. “Bill” Johnson, 79 of Danville, passed away on March 22, 2023.  He was born on April 04, 1944 in Whitley City, Kentucky, to the late Mabel (Wilson) and Lester Bradley Johnson.  Bill married Vicky L. Knight on July 11, 1986 in Indianapolis.  He was an U. S. Army veteran.  Bill worked for Walmart in the maintenance department for 14 years.  Previously, he had driven a tanker truck for BOC Gases for over 25 years.  He loved the outdoors, birdwatching, boating on the lake, and bowling.  Bill was an avid I U Basketball fan but most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially all of his grandkids. His survivors include his wife of 36 years, Vicky Johnson of Danville; children, Melissa Coatney (Ryan) of Cloverdale, Jason Burks (Shalin) of Frankfort, Joel Burks (Amy) of Mooresville; sister, Carol Carter of Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren, Nathaniel “Bullfrog”  (Jasmine), Madison, Kiefer, Samuel, and Jacy “Rattlesnake” Burks, Justin and Jonathan Earickson and partner Ashley Tabscott, Caitlyn Burks, Hannah and Savannah Bradberry, Aiden “Rascal” Hodde, Ava “Termite” Coatney; and one great granddaughter, Sophia Burks.  His parents and sister, Patsy Chupp, preceded him in death.  Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 27, 2023 in Baker Funeral Home, Danville, with burial to follow in Danville South Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the service time in the funeral home.
