Wendy Kaye (Stevens) Schmittou, 65 of Danville, passed away April 19, 2020 at Hendricks Regional Health in Danville. She was born on February 09, 1955 in Garden City, Michigan, to the late David Claude Stevens and Gladys Marie (Ralph) Kline. Wendy married Kenneth D. Schmittou on October 21, 1978 in Westland, Michigan. She was a homemaker, a member of Faith Baptist Church of Avon and a former Girl Scout Leader. Wendy was creative and enjoyed all types of crafting. She loved to quilt, sew, stamp, macramé and after they moved to rural Danville she created some magnificent flower beds and plentiful gardens. Previously she offered commercial custom embroidery for over 10 years. Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Kenneth D. Schmittou of Danville; daughter, Roberta K. Alder (Kyle) of Indianapolis; sisters, Rebecca McDaniel (Shawn) of Interlochen, MI., Deborah Stevens of Bowling Green, KY.; 2 grandchildren, Vivian and Jonathan Alder. Her parents; sister, Gina Fisher and son, Philip P. Schmittou, preceded her in death. Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions that are in place, a private graveside service will be held at the Danville South Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Life Centers 3901 W 86th St Indianapolis, IN 46268. Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield, is handling the arrangements.
