Wendell L. Mickler, 81 of Danville, passed away on June 05, 2022 at Hendricks Regional Health. He was born on March 08, 1941 in Paoli, Indiana, to the late Ermel and Ethel (Boswell) Mickler. Wendell owned and operated the Chat N Snak Drive-In Restaurant during his younger years, later worked as the sales manager for Courtney’s Hallmark, and most recently retired as a sales associate for Macy’s in 2010. He was a member of the Paoli Church of Christ, Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, and a founding member of the Orange County Players. Survivors include his life partner of 30 years, whom he married on June 16, 2014, Bob Lilly of Danville; nephew, Larry Mickler (Bonnie) of Dubois, Indiana; great nieces, Morgan Bockelman (Phil) of Jasper, Megan Mickler, Madison Mickler, both of Dubois; great-great niece, Adaline “#1” Bockelman; great-great nephew, Liam Bockelman, both of Jasper; father-in-law, Keith Lilly of Danville; sisters-in-law, Laura Kirtley (Bill) of Seymour, Amy Callahan (Craig), Andrea Coleman (David), both of Danville; 6 nephews, 2 nieces, 1 great niece; his “closest to a sister”, Vernice Rae and her family of Burlington, Kentucky. His parents and brother, Robert Eugene Mickler, preceded him in death. Services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 09, 2022 in Baker Funeral Home, Danville, with entombment to follow in the Danville South Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the service in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Dubois County Special Olympics P. O. Box 355 Jasper, IN 47547.
