Obituary

Sharon Jo Hamblen Osborn, 77 of Avon, passed away on March 15, 2021.  She was born on June 17, 1943 in Mooresville, Indiana, to the late George and Bertha (Reeves) Hamblen.

Sharon is a 1961 graduate of Mooresville High School where she was part of the school newspaper staff and active in FHA and 4-H. She was a student teacher, played clarinet in band and served as drum major.

Sharon married David Osborn in Plainfield, Indiana on August 10, 1963 and the couple immediately moved to Kansas. In 1978, two children and five states later, they returned to Plainfield.

She worked for Duke Energy in many different positions for 28 years. In 1996, Sharon decided to return to school and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Sharon was happiest spending time with and supporting friends and family. She was active in Jaycees, served as a church youth group leader and Girl Scout troop leader, and always supported her children’s high school and collegiate activities. She loved to entertain and enjoyed playing cards with her euchre club and attending weekly lunches with high school classmates.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, David Osborn. She took great pride in her son, Dr. Dan Osborn (Michele) of Springfield, Missouri; daughter, Margaret Osborn of Indianapolis; and grandchildren, Christian Osborn, and Dr. Andrew Osborn. Her parents, brother, Ronald “Sonny” Parks, and sister, Mary Alice Dillon, preceded her in death.
