Ruth Alberta (Chelf) Funk Jensen

Ruth Alberta Funk Jensen, 94 of Danville, passed away January 21, 2020.  She was born on March 11, 1925 in Clementsville, Kentucky, to the late James Thomas and Mary Catherine (Wethington) Chelf.  Ruth graduated from Lizton High School in 1943 and married the late Merle Funk on September 28, 1943 in St. Louis, Missouri. She authored a memoir in honor of Merle Funk. She was a part of the Hendrick’s County Sheriff’s department from 1963-1970 while her husband was the Sheriff.  She also worked at Allison GM for several years until her retirement.  Ruth was a member of the Danville Christian Church. In 1999, she married Robert Jensen in Danville and he preceded her in death.  Survivors include her son, Mike Funk of Avon; daughters, Mary K. Funk of New York and Jean A. Funk of Columbus.  Her parents, husbands, 5 brothers and 1 sister, all preceded her in death.  Services will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 25, 2020 in Baker Funeral Home, Danville, with burial to follow in the K of P Cemetery, Lizton.  Friends and family may call from 11:00 am until the service time in the funeral home.  A celebration of life will be held from 3:00-5:00 pm on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at the Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity house in Danville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hendricks County Museum 170 S Washington St Danville, IN 46122 or the National MS Society P.
