Ronald Alan Reynolds, 80, of Plainfield, went to be with the Lord on February 24, 2024. He was born on August 20, 1943 in Mitchell, IN to the late Benjamin F. Jr. and Marie G. (Bocock) Reynolds.
Ron retired from the United States Postal Service in January of 2013, after 40 years of serving in the Plainfield Post Office. He was known by all there as a loyal and dependable man.
He loved all “unique” things that ran on wheels; from the kids’ Honda Kick and Go, his recumbent bicycle to his Hot Rod (23 Ford T-bucket). He always had a passion for race cars and all forms of auto racing. That passion took him from slot cars to TQ Midget racing in the 1960’s. One of his final conversations with his son centered on Andretti Autosport’s failed attempt at Formula 1.
Ron enjoyed spending time in the magazine section of the bookstore skimming through the latest issues of Car and Driver or Popular Mechanics (he took a couple of those concept pages and made them reality). The TV brought him joy in recent years where his DVR was full of classic movies, old races and an occasional segment from Good Morning America. Upon retirement his calendar was highlighted with local car shows and swap meets.
He is survived by his son Eric (Jennifer) Reynolds, daughter Holly Reynolds, and 3 granddaughters.
A special thanks to the wonderful caring staff at Hendricks Regional Hospital (Danville) that cared for Ron in his final days.
Private graveside services will be held at a later date. Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield, is handling the arrangements. The family request that donations be made to Meals on Wheels of Hendricks County (www.hcmealsonwheels.org).
