Official Obituary of

Roberta K (Van Horn) Brownewell

October 23, 1938 ~ January 21, 2023 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Obituary

Roberta K. (Van Horn) Brownewell, born October 23, 1938, a longtime resident of Hendricks County, Indiana, departed this world for her eternal home in heaven at the age of 84 on January 21, 2023. God has another angel around his throne tonight.

Roberta grew up in Howesville, Indiana, and is the second oldest of seven children. She led a very simple, but fulfilling life.  She was married to Danny Brownewell from December 15, 1957 until his passing December 6, 2020. She had four daughters, four son-in-law’s, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She always said her greatest joys in life were her family. Oh how her world lit up when she spent time with her grand and great grandkids. When her great grandson came along, she was overwhelmed with sheer joy to learn his middle name “Robert” was after her. She always made sure her girls clothes were pressed just so so and their hair curled and well-groomed before going to school. It always made her feel good when the principal would comment that her daughters always looked like they stepped out of a band box every school day.

Roberta always looked forward to the annual family trips where so much laughter was had and precious memories made. She never wanted the trips to end. No one did.

Roberta loved to have a house full of kids and babysat for several children while raising her own. She also was an avid house cleaner (her own and others) and her home was always immaculate, which she has passed on to her daughters.

Roberta was an amazing caregiver and always put others needs above herself even to her own detriment. She was a true believer that all people are created equal and always would say everyone could clean their own doorstep before cleaning others. She was very wise to the world and was disheartened how the world is today and prayed for a turn back toward God.

Roberta was preceded in death by her husband, Danny Brownewell; her mother and father, Louie and Letha Van Horn; brothers, Richard Dean, Larry Wayne and Carmen Carl Van Horn; sisters, Dixie Jean  White and Sue Ann Van Horn; and grandmother and grandfather, Grover and Lenna Miller. She is survived by her daughters and their spouses Kathy (Mike) Adams, Rhonda (Michael) Campbell, Julie (Wes) Fields and Belinda (David) White; grandchildren Jennifer (Jason) Carlson, Caleb (Haley) Campbell and Shelby (Alex) McSweeney; great grandchildren Andrew Robert Carlson and Annabelle Marie Campbell; and brother, Jerry Van Horn, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Wednesday, January 25 2023, at Hall-Baker Funeral Home, in Plainfield, Indiana, and immediately following visitation will be a Celebration of Life beginning at 1:00pm.
