Robert James Rairdon

Robert James Rairdon, age 86, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully on June 4, 2023, at his home in Avon, Indiana. Robert was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 31, 1936, to Max and Emily Rairdon. The family moved back to Franklin, Indiana and Bob graduated from Franklin High School. In 1956, Bob joined the Navy and served until 1960. He was proud of his service and loved the time he spent serving his country. He then worked at Naval Avionics Center (NAC) for almost 30 years and retired in 1991.

Bob was a devoted husband to LaVerne, and their marriage was a true love story. He was a dedicated father and grandfather, always putting his family first. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Most of all, by his children, Peter James, Robert Martin, Daniel Kent, Michelle Renee, and Evon Yi. He was also blessed with nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Bob was thoughtful, kind, and caring, with a contagious sense of humor which endeared him to family and friends. He enjoyed bowling, traveling and loved good food. He was also an avid sports fan and loved watching football and baseball. Bob especially enjoyed the time spent coaching his children and grandchildren in their sporting activities.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 08, 2023 in Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the service time in the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Dementia Society of America in memory of Robert Rairdon.
