Obituary

Patricia K. Smith, age 87, of Indianapolis, died peacefully on July 20, 2023 at Hendricks Regional Health in Danville, Indiana.

Patricia Kay Monnett was born August 14, 1935 in Greencastle, Indiana.  Her parents, Clifford and Dorothy, owned Monnett’s Market on the south end of Greencastle.  She was one of nine children.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, William T. Smith; and siblings, Gordon “Bud” Monnett, Mildred “Minnie” Edwards, Bill Monnett, Don Monnett, and Jerry Monnett.

Surviving family members include sons, Jeff (Mary) Smith of Grayson, Georgia, and Brian (Susan) Smith of Danville.  Also surviving are sisters, Marcia Campbell, Janice Inman; and brother, Keith Monnett; along with many special nieces and nephews.  Her four adult grandchildren are, Justin (Stacey), Chad, Blaine, and Bethany (JoJo).  Her four great-grandchildren are Mariah (Grant), Mason, Brooklyn, and Liam.

“Tishie”, as she was known by her large family, had a full life.  She enjoyed camping, racing, her Coke collection, carnivals, rodeos, fairs, and festivals.  She and Bill loved their time as “snowbirds” in sunny Florida for many years.

A proud American who regularly donated to military and veteran organizations, she was a long-time active member of the American Legion Auxiliary at Post 331 in Brownsburg, Indiana.  Above all, she was a wonderful person that loved her family more than anything.

A small, private, family graveside service will be held at Brownsburg Cemetery.  Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield, is handling arrangements.
