Nicholas Charles Smith, 71 of Coatesville, passed away June 05, 2020. He was born on September 21, 1948 in Denver, Colorado to the late Annette (Kelly) and Lawson Fry Smith, M.D. He grew up in Castleton, Indiana and graduated from Scecina High School in 1966. Survivors include his brothers, Christopher J. (Trina) Smith of Camby, Stephen K. (Barbara) Smith of Indianapolis; sisters, Jennifer Smith-Davis of Coatesville, Susan (Robert) Skeels of Avon, Cindy Peirce of St. Louis, MO.; Lisa Cunningham, sister of the heart; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Robert Peirce.
Nick was a retired self-employed construction worker, known for his rich talent as a finish carpenter and cabinet maker. He was a perfectionist and that was extremely evident in the beautiful pieces he created. When complimented on his latest creation or his ability to fix something around the house, he often smiled and stated that he was a “jack of all trades, master of same,” his own variation of the common phrase. His talent and humility was matched by his kindness and great sense of humor. He was very curious and interested in many subjects. Nick was a Navy veteran and a member of the American Legion. He will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to one’s favorite charity. Baker Funeral Home, Danville, is handling the arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.bakerfuneralservice.com
