Obituary

Margaret Maxine Stanley Davis was born on July 26, 1911 and passed on April 27, 2020. Her parents were Lewis Ellsworth Stanley and Ada Florence McConaha Stanley of Boston, Indiana. She was the eleventh child of thirteen.  At 108 she is the last of that generation.

She graduated from Kitchell High School, Kitchell, IN in 1929 and attended Ball Memorial Hospital, now part of Ball State University, graduating with a nursing degree in 1933. Her first nursing position was at Fayette Memorial Hospital, Connersville, IN where she met Robert B. Davis and married in 1939. They moved several times with Robert's work including to Danville, Noblesville, Greensburg, Lafayette and finally settling in Plainfield IN. While in Lafayette she was a head nurse at St.Elizabeth Hospital working there for 16 years. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.

There were three children: Robert S. Davis (Mary Beth Fleischhauer Davis), Barbara M. Davis, and Bruce S. Davis (Anna Blackburn Davis). Maxine has 2 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren: Eric (Katherine Hope Davis) Madeleine and Margaret / Marc (Virginia Barkley Reel) Sam and Sara.

Robert Davis passed in 1979 and Maxine remained in their home for another 40 years. She loved to travel and had the opportunity to visit Alaska, England, Australia, New Zealand and parts of Europe in the interim years.

Maxine also loved working with her hands, knitting, sewing, and working in the garden with her flowers. She mowed her own yard until she was 90 and drove to the beauty shop, a weekly visit, and the grocery until she was 99. She greatly enjoyed going to the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra "Pop Series". In later years, she was able to remain in her own home with daily visits from Caring Call Connection thanks to their wonderful care with meals and visit time.

After a fall, it became apparent that additional care was needed; she went to Cumberland Trace in Plainfield. She received such wonderful care in the Memory Unit until her passing on Monday. She had a truly full and wonderful life when one thinks of all the things that she experienced and viewed in her 108 years.
