Obituary

Mary Anne Williamson

A life well lived, our mother, grandmother and great grandmother was born Saturday, April 14, 1934 and passed on Monday, May 8, 2023 at the age of 89.

Anne was born to Seals Lane and Mary Evelyn Swafford in Rockmart, Georgia.  The family was blessed with all girls.  Anne is survived by two sisters, Wylene Tritt and Gloria Hope Mauldin, and preceded in death by two sisters, Julia Janet Pylant and Evelyn Joyce Boatright.  She graduated in 1950 from John McEachern High School, Powder Springs, Georgia.  She met her future husband Donald Lee Williamson (May 2, 1928 - December 13, 2013) while he was stationed at the newly formed U.S. Air Force, Dobbins Air Force Base, Marietta, Georgia.  They married August 11, 1951 in Greencastle Indiana and moved to Plainfield Indiana to start their life and family.

She faced many challenges as a young wife and mother and met them head on with determination.  Sacrificing herself to create advantages for her children, she wore many hats, while learning how to be a positive force as a mother.  A graduate of House of James Beauty College, she worked extremely hard to provide many opportunities for her sons.  Anne encouraged her sons to explore music, arts, sports and many other activities to be well-rounded.  Church was very important to her - bible class, church services, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School were a must in the household.  She played the piano, played records on her phonograph and made a delicious fried chicken dinner nearly every Sunday after church.  She was always the taxi for the family and their activities.  Anne also helped run the family business as a book keeper, ordering parts and supplies and other duties.  She was a provider in many ways - score keeper for baseball, Cub and Boy Scout Den Mother and a cheerleader to encourage her sons’ best efforts.

She is survived by three sons:  Dan (Debbie), Gary (Virginia) and Terry (Vicki), granddaughters:  Brooke (Dan/Debbie), Megan (Terry/Vicki), grandsons: Eric, Tyler and Travis (Gary/Virginia), great grandsons Rudy and Clark (Eric/Rachel) and future great granddaughter (Travis/Allie).
