Mary E. (Spencer) Clausman

Mary E. Clausman, 86 of Danville, passed away on March 24, 2020 in Life’s Journey of Avon.  She was born on April 28, 1933 in Indianapolis to the late Sylvester and Viola (McNay) Spencer.  Mary married John W. Clausman on January 24, 1953 in Muncie and he preceded her in death in 2008, also her daughter, Denice in 1954.  John and Mary ran their own General Store together for years. John also did a lot of gardening and Mary did the cooking and canning. Her family always enjoyed home grown vegetables, fruits, nuts and freshly caught fish.  Mary also ran her own hair salon, worked at NAPA Auto Parts Distribution Center, Diamond Chain, and operations manager for the family. Significant projects include directing home delivery of pony to a suburban house, travel agent for cross country road trips, and master organizer of our family gatherings and meals. But out of all these incredible accomplishments, her biggest joy was being a homemaker and loving mother.  Mary was a member of the Plainfield Christian Church.  Survivors include her children, Marsha King of Danville, Mark Clausman of Carmel, Warren Clausman (Chris) of Brownsburg; grandchildren, Laura King, Robert King, John King (Courtney), Mitch Clausman (Rainy); great grandchildren, Sophia King, Kennedy and Lillian King, Ember Clausman; and a great-great grandson, Zayden; step grandchildren, Meghan Brown (Jake), and Patrick Mulry.  Her siblings Doris Hall, James Spencer, Edison Spencer, and Robert Spencer also preceded her in death.  Due to the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions, services will be private with burial to follow in the K of P Cemetery in Lizton.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 50 E 91st St Ste 100 Indianapolis, IN 46240.  Baker Funeral Home, Danville, is in charge of the arrangements.
