Leo R. Tarplee

April 1, 1926 ~ January 24, 2024 (age 97) 97 Years Old


Leo R. Tarplee, 97 of Danville, passed away on January 24, 2024. He was born April 1, 1926 in Rushville to the late Max H. and Dollie Mae Taylor Tarplee. He was a member of the Danville Christian Church and was an Army Air Corp veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Magdalena (Lena) Brinas Smith; sons, Leo Tarplee, Jr., James Michael Tarplee; daughter, Connie Lee Tarplee; sister, Maxine Mae Tarplee; 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was an electronics engineer for 47 years, retiring in 1995. Leo was a member of the Hendricks County Senior Center and the Black Sheep Flying Club of Hendricks County.  He loved to fly radio controlled airplanes. His parents; sister, Cinderella Alice Tarplee; his first wife, Ellen Jane Hoard Tarplee, all preceded him in death.  He will be dearly missed by family and friends. A service will be at 12 noon on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 in Baker Funeral Home, Danville, with visitation starting at 10 a.m. until the service time.  Reverend Venessa Harmel officiating. A private burial will be held. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Hendricks County Senior Center 1201 Sycamore Ln, Danville, IN 46122.
