John B. Deuth, age 81, of Plainfield passed away on September 17, 2022 in IU University Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born on February 9, 1941 in Seguin, Texas to the late Martin and Mary Jane Lewis Deuth. He graduated from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. He married Elwanda Johnson on February 5, 1968; she survives. John was an Army Veteran serving in Vietnam. He received the Purple Heart and a Silver Star. He was a member of Kingsway Christian Church in Avon. He retired in 2003 as a Warden for the Indiana Department of Corrections after 40 years of service. Survivors include his Wife Elwanda. Sons: Kevin Deuth (Angie) and Derek Deuth (Neile). Brother: Allen Deuth. Grandchildren: Jessica, Katherine, Amanda, D.J., Robert and Brandon. Great-Grandchildren: Ricky, Lillie, Eli, Oliver, Kosmo and Ace. And a special friend and sister-in-law: Kathy Johnson. One of John’s favorite songs was “I Can Only Imagine” by MercyMe; he no longer has to try to imagine what Heaven is like because we know he arrived there on September 17. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 29 at 3 p.m. in Hall-Baker Funeral Home, with Pastor John Caldwell officiating. Visitation will 2 hours prior to the celebration in the funeral home.
