James Phillip Cavett of Plainfield, Indiana, born on April 1, 1937, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to John Henry and Clara Louise (Cramer) Cavett, Died peacefully Tuesday February 2, 2021 in Avon, Indiana.
Phillip graduated from George Washington High School in Indianapolis in 1955 and was a member of the Plainfield United Methodist Church. Phillip was a dedicated husband and father, an outdoorsman and ardent Colts fan.
Phillip worked as a Machinist for 26 years for Schwitzer Company in Indianapolis retiring in 2000.
He is survived by his sister Peggy (John) Obergfell, his wife of 64 years Dorothy (Sylvester), son James Phillip (Susan Hannah) Cavett Jr., daughters Lynne (Greg) Miller and Mary (Steve) Pennington. Four grandchildren; Meghan (Dan Newland) Cavett, Allison (Marcus) Edwards, Bryn (Bethany) Cavett and Gracelyn Miller. Three great grandchildren; Stella, Dominic and Davin.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family would ask that you make memorial contributions be made to Rock Steady Boxing, where Phillip went to treat his Parkinson’s disease, 1531 East Northfield Dr. Suite 800 Brownsburg, Indiana 46112.
