James Kelly Beck (Jim) passed away on December 18, 2022 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, after a very short battle with cancer. He was 53 years old. Jim was born to Tom & Jean Beck on May 5, 1969 in Danville, Indiana.
Jim and his lovely wife Shannon were married on April 16, 2005, and were blessed with 2 wonderful children, Ava Beck, age 16, and Xavier Beck, age 13.
Jim worked for the past 24 years at Labcorp (Covance) in Indianapolis. There is no doubt that “work” was Jim’s love language to his family and friends, as he loved his job and worked every bit of overtime he could get. He was a great provider for his family and considered it an honor to do so.
One of Jim’s most memorable moments was his proposal to his lovely wife Shannon at Disney World in Orlando, and subsequently spending a wonderful vacation there with Shannon, Ava, and Xavier several years later.
Jim loved to fish as a child and young man with one of his best friends Skip Albrecht, who preceded him in death a short time ago. I can only imagine what the two of them are up to in Heaven right now!
Jim’s daughter Ava is an avid horse enthusiast and he often spoke of how proud he was of her interests. The same for his son Xavier, loving his “gaming” and football. Jim wanted to make sure his children were provided the opportunities to participate in their own personal interests, and watch them grow into young adults.
Jim was a believer in God and professed his faith in Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He knew without a doubt that when he left this earth he would see the beautiful face of his Savior and other friends and family who had gone before him.
He is survived by his lovely wife Shannon; his daughter Ava and his son Xavier; mother, Jean Guffey, brothers Rod, Ed, Josh, and sisters, Scottie and Patte. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces, aunts, uncles, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, as well as his mother and father-in-law Doug and Linda Woodley, all of which he loved dearly. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Walter Thomas (Tom) Beck, Jr.
Services for Jim will be at Hall Baker Funeral Home in Plainfield, Indiana. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 27th from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. and Celebration of Life Service on Wednesday, December 28th at 10:00 a.m., all held at the funeral home. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Plainfield.
