Obituary

E. Gayle Burroughs, Plainfield, died on January 2, 2023. She was born to Clarence M. Crecelius and Ruth I. (McMahon) Crecelius in 1936. She was married for 59 years to Robert J. Burroughs, who preceded her in death. She was employed by Union Carbide Corporation Coating Service in Indianapolis. She was the treasurer for many years of Plainfield Tri-Kappa and very active in the Plainfield Lady Elks Association. She was an avid golfer. She and her late husband, Bob, retired to Fairfield Glades, Tennessee many years ago. Gayle always went out of her way to reach out to new arrivals at Fairfield Glades to make them feel welcome and to introduce them to her circle of friends. She was famous for hosting dinner parties and brunches. She was a member of the Fairfield Glade Christ Lutheran Church. Gayle is survived by her sister Marjorie L. Zellers and nieces: Lynn (Zellers) (Cary) Vernon Jennie Prewett and Judie Prewett.  Great Nephews: McKinley and Jackson Vernon.  She was also preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Anna Ruth Prewett. She will be entombed, next to her late husband, at Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield, Indiana on January 9, 2023 following a brief ceremony at 1 P.M. in the cemetery’s Chapel. Hall Baker Funeral Home is handling the funeral arrangements.
