David Mack Wilson, 80, of Avon, passed away December 30, 2020, after contracting COVID-19 earlier in the month. He was born on June 18, 1940, in Phillips, Texas, to the late David Moore and Eleanor D. Wilson. As the child of a petroleum engineer, he lived in Texas, Louisiana, Iraq, and Lebanon, before starting college at the University of Oklahoma in 1958. He participated in ROTC and served as a Captain in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Upon completing his service commitment, he returned to OU and completed his Doctorate in physics in 1975. During his career, David worked as a physicist and design engineer for industrial plants throughout the United States. He also loved puzzles and games of all types - board games, card games, logic games, and sudoku. David was married to teacher and musician Theresa Margaret Hollingsworth, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, for more than 45 years. They loved to travel the world, searching for beautiful works of art and collecting stories about the people they met along the way. They enjoyed retirement, exploring the world and visiting family members, before Theresa passed in 2015. David is survived by his sisters, Roxanne Pannell of Greencastle and Ariel (Jim) Gasper of San Diego, CA.; 5 nieces and nephews; and 6 great nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Baker Funeral Home, Danville, is in charge of the local arrangements.
