Carla J. (Owens) Halfaker

Carla J. Halfaker, age 91, of Plainfield passed away on October 30, 2022. She was born on September 12, 1931 in Plainfield, Indiana to the late Frank and Inez Walters Owens. She married J. Richard Halfaker on May 31, 1953; he preceded her in death on January 1, 2022. Carla was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. As a teenager, her first job was working the soda fountain at Strafford’s Drug Store on W. Main St. in Plainfield. She also enjoyed working in the Plainfield elementary schools as a secretary making many new lifelong friends with teachers and staff. Another vocation where she had many stories to tell was delivering flowers for Plainfield Florist. Her best and favorite role was being a homemaker and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She enjoyed bowling, spending time with her family, and playing board games with her grandchildren. Carla was a faithful member of the Plainfield Christian Church. Survivors include her sons: Bryan (Janice) Halfaker and Steven (Lynn) Halfaker. Grandchildren: Erin Halfaker, Bethany (Don) Mucho, Scott Halfaker and Ellen Halfaker. Great-grandsons: Brian Hill and Cooper Mucho. Funeral services will be held on Saturday November 5, 2022 at 1 p.m. at Hall Baker Funeral Home with Rev. Steve White officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Cartersburg, In. Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. until services.
