Betty J. Fleming, 75 of Plainfield, passed away May 06, 2020 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born on September 22, 1944 in Indianapolis to the late John Arch and Ruth (Matlock) Scanland. Betty married Michael Fleming on February 02, 1969 in Mooresville. She worked more than 28 years for the federal government most recently for the United States Post Office, retiring in 1992 from the Safety department. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Mike Fleming of Plainfield; son, James M. Fleming of Danville; granddaughters, Ruth Smith, Sarah Madison Fleming; great granddaughter, Zella; sister, Helen Wehmeier of Florida; and her beloved dog, Lacey. Her parents; daughter, Sarah Ruth Fleming; siblings, Jerry and Jack Scanland, Sylvia Taylor, preceded her in death.
Due to the Covid-19 restrictions that are in place, a private service will be held. Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield, is handling the arrangements.
