Beth Pilcher Obituary

Beth, a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, peacefully passed away on October 2, 2023, leaving behind a lifetime of treasured memories and an enduring legacy of love.

Born on August 3, 1920, in Martinsville, Indiana, Beth was the daughter of AB and Bessie Tipps and shared a childhood with siblings: Ruth Hancook, Lefty Tipps, Midge Anderson, Patsy Harris, and Judy Stout.

After graduating from Plainfield High School in 1938, Beth embarked on a remarkable journey that would define her life. She began her career at L.S. Ayres, where her strong work ethic and keen sense of style led her to becoming an assistant buyer. Her career in fashion was marked by dedication, setting the stage for her lifelong love of fashion.

During World War II, Beth joined the Red Cross, where she contributed her skills to support the war effort.

Beth married Larry Pilcher on August 30, 1941 and their relationship spanned several decades. Together they raised three wonderful children: Mark (Sherri) Pilcher, Gay Younce, and David (Sharon) Pilcher. Beth was a devoted mother, always putting her family’s needs above her own. Her home was a warm place where love filled every room.

As a grandmother to Nick, Lyndsay, Rachael, Sarah, David Scott and Michael Shawn and later a great-grandmother to Garrett, Joscelyn, Lucy, Ruby, Ezra, and Joel, Beth found immeasurable joy in the company of her family. She delighted in all of their milestones and accomplishments, and her love continues to inspire them today.

Beth’s strong Christian faith was at the core of her being. Her unwavering belief in God was a source of comfort and strength for her and those fortunate enough to know her.

Beth had a passion for baking and cooking. Her kitchen was a place of magic with delicious food and memories.

Beth’s presence in our lives was a gift, and her memory will forever be cherished. She leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and grace that will continue to inspire us all. Though she may no longer be with us in person, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved her.
