Beryle A. Lane

Beryle A. Lane, 77 of Clayton, passed away on September 25, 2023.  He was born on December 10, 1945 in Indianapolis to the late Helena Marie (Freije) and Wayne Alfred Lane.  Beryle graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1964.  Beryle married Joyce H. Boofer on October 24, 1964 in Indianapolis.  He was a Tool and Die Maker for 42 years retiring from Rolls Royce in 2006.  He was also a Federal Firearms Dealer and owned and operated Lane and Son Guns since the 1980’s.  Beryle served his community through law enforcement working as a Deputy for Marion County Sheriff’s Department for 12 years, Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department, and as the Amo Chief of Police for 5 years. He was a member of the Stilesville Masonic Lodge #131 (Past Master), the Order of Eastern Star (Past Patron and 50 years plus), Indiana Sheriff’s Association, NRA, UAW 933, and USW 1050.   He enjoyed cooking, traveling, fishing, hunting, camping, helping others, family time and was a member of the Hazelwood Christian Church (18 years as Deacon and Elder for 6 years).  Survivors include his wife of nearly 59 years, Joyce Lane of Clayton; daughter, Melanie J. (John) Anderson of Clayton; son, David A. Lane of Stilesville; grandchildren, Stephanie (Ross) Richey of Clayton, Andrew D. Lane of Stilesville, Tiffany M. Lane of Danville; great grandchildren, Timothy L. Anderson, Remington, Riley and Rexton Richey.  His parents; brothers, Donald E., Gerald A. Lane, and grandson, Billy Anderson, preceded him in death.  Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 pm on Friday, September 29, 2023 at the Hazelwood Christian Church.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 30, 2023 in the church with burial to follow in the Stilesville Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Indiana Sheriff’s Association 7124 E CR 150 S Ste B Avon, IN 46123-2001 or the Hazelwood Christian Church 9047 S CR 0 Clayton, In 46118.  Baker Funeral Home, Danville, is handling the arrangements.
