Barbara Ruth Cartlidge

Barbara Ruth Cartlidge 82, an 80-year resident of Avon, passed away November 25, 2022 at her home. Born November 21, 1940 in Portland, Oregon, to Florence and Harry Cartlidge, Barbara was one of two children.

She is survived by her sister, Catherine (Charles) Mekel of Palatine, IL and nieces Susan (Brian) Stock of Chicago, and Anne (Phillip) Hodge of LaGrange, IL. She was preceded in death by her mother, Florence Gregory Cartlidge and her father, Harry B. Cartlidge.

Barbara attended the Avon United Methodist Church for 80 years and, until her death, worked over 40 years at Sycamore Services of Danville, a work program for adults with intellectual disabilities. She was one of the first participants where she met so many of her lifelong friends.

Our family wants to thank the Avon community, which Barbara loved so much, for being so kind and generous to her wherever she went. Barbara affected so many in such a positive way with her wonderful spirit of life. No one was a stranger! She will be greatly missed by her family and her friends.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 am at the Avon United Methodist Church with the Memorial Service at 11:00, January 14. Burial will be private in Highlands Cemetery, Williamsport, IN, on November 30.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to either Sycamore Services, https://inmemory.givesmart.com or the Avon United Methodist Church. Arrangements are being handled by Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield.
