Wilma J. Rankin Dorrell, age 91, went to be with the Lord on February 04, 2025.  She was born in Indianapolis to the late Dorothy (Davis) and Caswell Emberton.

She attended Ben Davis High School and Decatur Central High School where she graduated, then Anderson University.  She was involved with New Tribes Missionaries until 1999.

Wilma was married to Billy Rankin from 1955 until 1979.  They had five children, Dean, Dee Ann, Dale, twins, Kevin and Keith Rankin.

She lived in Florida for 20 years where she retired from Sarasota Memorial Hospital.  She loved quilting, piano and teaching junior church and Sunday school.  While in Florida she did Coast Guard patrols and lighthouse duty, attaining to USCG Sea Captain.

In 2001 she and Chester Dorrell were united in marriage.  The both enjoyed Choir and traveling.  He passed away on April 02, 2020.  She was a member of the Plainfield Christian Church.

Survivors include her children, Dee Ann Smith (Jim) of Bloomington, Dale Rankin of Alabama, Kevin Rankin of Indianapolis; 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.  Her parents; husband; brother, Melvin Emberton; and sons, Dean Rankin and Keith Rankin, preceded her in death.

Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield, is handling the arrangements.  Private services will be held.
