William Dwayne Archer, 81 of Clayton, passed away on May 15, 2025. He was born on November 02, 1943 in Indianapolis to the late Lelvia Susan (Cottongim) Summers and Everett I. Archer. Dwayne married Lucy Rose Brinegar on August 27, 1967 in Plainfield. He was a U. S. Army veteran and a member of the Danville American Legion Post #118. Dwayne worked as a bench-jeweler for over 60 years and also served on the Hazelwood Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and listening to Elvis. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Lucy R. Archer of Clayton; daughter, Nancy Staley (Billy) of Danville; brothers, David Archer (Pam) of Sheridan, Lester Williams (Peggy) of Indianapolis; sister, Sandra Brooks-Smith of Bradenton, Florida; and 2 grandchildren, Torilynn and Elijah Staley. His parents and one brother, Noble Gene Archer, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 in Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield, with military honors and burial to follow at Clayton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon until the service time in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project P. O. Box 758516 Topeka Kansas 66675-8516.
