Wanda Jean Ellis, age 98, of Plainfield passed away on January 18, 2026. She was born on April, 17, 1927 in Indianapolis to the late Frank and Lela Bear Davis. She was a graduate of Ben Davis High School Class of 1945. Jean was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. She was a full time house wife, and married her high school sweetheart Thomas E. Ellis. She enjoyed traveling all over the world, was an avid worker of crossword and board puzzles. She enjoyed knitting and was affiliated with “Knit for Kids”. She was also a long time member of the Plainfield United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughter: Karen Eills-Langefeld. , Nephew Ronald E. Compton (Marcia) His children: Cheryl Mooday (Chris), Ann Whitecotton (Chad). 4 Grandchildren, 6 Greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death her parents, 2 brothers, 1 sister, her husband of 47 years Thomas E. Ellis and son James David “Jim” Ellis. A special Thanks to family member Tina MacNabb
Funeral services will be on January 24, 2026 at 1 p.m. in Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield. Private burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the funeral home prior to the service.
