"Tom" Foster
February 26, 1948 – October 1, 2016
Thomas Lee (Tom) Foster, 68, went to be with the Lord on October 1st, 2016. Tom was born in Indianapolis on February 26, 1948 the son of Harry and Sarah (Davis) Foster. Tom graduated from Howe High School in Indianapolis in 1966. Tom served in the U.S. Army receiving many medals, including the Combat Medical Badge for service under hostile fire, as a medic in Vietnam. He married Linda Bowen on December 31st, 1970. Tom managed various Indiana State Parks after his service in the Army. Tom also built and operated a sporting goods store in Cloverdale Indiana. Then Tom worked for Cook Urological in Spencer Indiana as a machinist and medical device engineer. Tom retired from Cook in 2005. Tom always loved nature, and spending time outdoors. He and his family lived on 40 acres in Owen County, Indiana; in a cabin he built himself. Tom was an avid fisherman and golfer that also played guitar and sang in a blues band with friends from Spencer, Indiana. After retiring, Tom and his wife and dog Lucky spent the winters in Lillian, Alabama and Pine Island, Florida. Tom loved his family and was survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda Foster; his children, Michael Dodds and wife Suzie; Lori Dodds; Randy Foster; Jeff Foster and wife Tiffany; Jeni York and husband Shane; his brothers Ronald Foster and wife Marcia; Larry Foster and wife Maryann; John Foster and wife Teresa; Robert Foster and his significant other Tammy; and Tom's grandchildren Ben, Hailey, Devin, and Brady. Tom was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial in Tom's honor will be held at Cataract Missionary Baptist Church on October 8th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Please make a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project in lieu of flowers at P.O.
