Thomas T. Smith, 80, of Plainfield, passed away on August 12, 2026. He was born on July 20, 1946 in Indianapolis to the late Dorothy (Stump) and John T. Smith. He married Susan Kay McCormick in 1983 in Indianapolis.

Tom graduated from Ben Davis High School and is an U. S. Air Force veteran. He owned and operated ICS Mechanical, retiring in 2011. He worked as a Master Plumber for over 50 years and was a member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #440. He was a licensed pilot and owned his own plane. He also rode his Yamaha V Star 1300 with the Christian Motorcyclist Association.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Susie K. Smith of Plainfield; sons, Thomas A. Smith (Kimberly), Andrew J. Smith (Tina), Michael S. McArtor; sister, Susan E. Johnson (James); 7 grandchildren, Owen, Luke, Drew, Danica Smith, Shelby Woods, Maggie and Wyatt Smith; 8 great grandchildren; and one niece, Rachel Rush.

A Celebration of Life service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026 in Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield, with military honors to follow. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the service time in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Prostate Cancer Foundation at PCF.org
