Obituary

Stephen Christopher Minkner, age 74 of Greencastle passed away on August 27, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was born on November 20, 1951, in Indianapolis to the late Harry A. Minkner and Helen C. Uehlein Minkner. On March 24, 1973, Steve married Denise Hurt and they shared more than 53 years of marriage; she survives. In addition to driving for most of his career, he was a truck driver at Wal-Mart for 24 years before his retirement in 2014.

Denise and Steve attended Cloverdale Christian Church.

Steve enjoyed boating, camping, fishing, especially with his grandchildren, and working on cars. His passion for cars was evident in his restored 1971 Cutlass, that he and Denise enjoyed taking to many car shows together.

Survivors include his wife, Denise Minkner. Daughters: Elizabeth Harrigan (Greg), Amanda Custis (Joe). Sons: Timothy Minkner (Michelle), and Joseph Minkner (Katie). Sisters: Barbara Sinclair and Marilyn Walton. Brothers: David, Phillip, Mark and Chris Minkner. Steve enjoyed spending time with his 7 grandchildren who held a special place in his heart, Amelia, Madison, Hailey, Logan, Christie, Allison, and Owen. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Karen Zigler.

Memorial visitation will be held on Monday September 14, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Cloverdale Christian Church 11961 State Road 42 Cloverdale, Indiana 46120 with a celebration of Steve’s life to start at 1 p.m.
