Salvatore Richard Prevete, 91 of Avon, passed away on February 09, 2024 at The Gathering Together.  He was born on December 29, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Anna (Giaccone) and Biagio Prevete.  Salvatore was an U. S. Air Force veteran.  He married Dolores A. Cousins on April 15, 1961 in Brooklyn, NY and she survives.  Salvatore was a Route Salesman for Taystee Bread, a security officer at Madison Square Garden, and a dispatch supervisor for NYCHA during his working years.  He attended St. Susanna Catholic Church in Plainfield.  Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Dolores A. Prevete of Avon; son, Richard Prevete (Rosemarie Lieberum); daughters, Nancy McGarry (Daniel), Karen Copeland (David); brother, Ronald Prevete (Linda); sisters, Frances McGreer (Daniel), Marie Harrigan (Thomas); 3 grandchildren, Sarah Grant (Timothy), Adam McGarry, Tyler Vogel; and 2 great grandchildren, Ethan and Dean Grant.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Felix Prevete; and sister, Anna Mae Vitale.  Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 11, 2024 in Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield.  A Funeral mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2024 in St. Susanna Catholic Church, Plainfield, with Father Rob Hausladen officiating.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Gathering Together 147 N.
