Ronald Noble Sturgeon Sr., 84 of Plainfield, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025. Ron was born November 16, 1940, in Washington, Indiana to Dorothy and Noble Sturgeon. He graduated from Connersville High School in 1958. Ron married Brenda (Gallagher) on June 6, 1961, and together they raised four boys in the Plainfield area. Ron was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
Ron worked in the grocery industry for 34 years. He was in management for 29 years with Kroger and launched their first Plainfield Kroger store and managed it for 25 years. Ron was active in the Optimist Club and coached local Plainfield baseball teams. His hobbies and activities included fishing, hunting, cutting firewood, watching the Cincinnati Reds and Colts games. Ron was an avid angler with his friends, four boys and nephews enjoyed fishing trips to Lake of the Woods in Canada, Lake Erie, and Wisconsin lakes.
Ron is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Brenda Lee Sturgeon; sons: Ron Jr. (Lisa and former wife Kourtnaye) Kevin (former wife Kim), Bryan (Deanna) and David (Janiene), ten grandchildren – Ryan, Brett, Adam, Erica, Katelynn, Koleson (Ashley), Brandon, Kelsey, Garrett and Lauren, three great-grandchildren – Kyden, Rydar and Karsyn – along with brother in laws, many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly. His loving sister, Diana Gulley (Terrell) survives him, both his parents and brother, Ralph, preceded him in death.
Visitation is 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Monday, September 22 and 10:00 - 11:30 am on Tuesday, September 23 at Hall Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday and be officiated by Roger Foggin. Burial will follow at the Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield, Indiana.
