Obituary

Robert Clair Arnold, 84 of Danville, IN (formerly of Tampa, FL), passed away on June 11, 2026. He was born on August 20, 1941 in Morris, Illinois, to the late Bette (VanAsdlen) and Lloyd Arnold. Robert married Karen Sue Hetch on April 04, 1981 in Wheaton, Illinois.

Robert was an U. S. Air Force veteran. He was a route salesman for Merita Bakery for 20 plus years before retirement. Robert was an avid reader and a member of the Bakery and Confectionery Union.

Bob and Karen made many trips to the Southwest taking mule rides into the Grand Canyon. They also enjoyed hiking through the Indian ruins of Mesa Verde.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Karen Sue Arnold of Danville; son, Tom (Nancy) Arnold of Minooka, IL.; daughter, Libby (Keith) Brockman of Elwood, IL.; 7 grandchildren, Jennifer (Mark) Viano, Tommy (Shanna) Arnold, Grace, Timmy, Raymond Arnold, Ryan and Owen Brockman; 2 great grandchildren, Aubrey and Frank Viano; and his beloved Jack Russell, Maverick; sisters, Sue (Greg) Goebel of Muncie, Sandy (Mike) Kakacek of St. Charles, IL. Robert was preceded in death by his parents; son, Tim Arnold; and brother, Jim Arnold.

A Memorial Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at the Blackburn-Giegerich-Sonntag Funeral Home 1500 Black Road Joliet, Illinois 60435. 

Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield, is handling the local arrangements.
