Rebecca Jean Newlin, 71 of Indianapolis, passed away on May 02, 2023 at I. U. Health-Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born on August 24, 1951 in Indianapolis to Doris (Pierce) and the late Charles Samuels. Rebecca married Gary Wendell Newlin on August 30, 1969 in Mooresville. She was the owner of "Hairkeepers" Beauty Salon in Indianapolis. She was a beautician for many years retiring in 1997. Rebecca was a member of the Speedway General Baptist Church. She loved her family, enjoyed gardening, and served as a volunteer for the hospital. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Gary Newlin of Indianapolis; son, Daniel Alan Newlin (Barbara Hall) of Indianapolis; mother, Doris Akers of Plainfield; sisters, Joyce Settles (David) of Mooresville, Sheila Ruff (Samuel) of Clermont; grandchildren, Jaime Danielle Mauder (Michael) of Spencer, Eyvonna Hall, Heather Walters, Haley Barclay, Samson Hall; and great grandchildren, Willow June Mauder, Kaydence Hall, James Hall, Christopher Walters, Aiden Walters, and Oliver Barclay. Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 06, 2023 in Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield, with burial to follow in the Sugar Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the service time in the funeral home.
