Obituary

Phyllis Elaine Cottongim, 61 of Plainfield, passed away on December 01, 2022. She was born on June 28, 1961 in Mount Nebo, West Virginia, to Mary Cutlip Ramsey and the late Danny Ramsey. She married her High School sweetheart, Ed Cottongim, on November 3, 1984 at Kingsway Christian Church. Phyllis was the Transportation Secretary for Plainfield Community School Corporation. She was an active member of Plainfield Christian Church. She led the Simply Sisters Sunday School class and was involved with the Indy West Great Banquet, the Cheerful Chicks and countless other groups and organizations throughout her life. She was passionate about spending her time teaching the stories of the bible, sharing her faith, scrapbooking, crafting, card making, reading, meeting friends for lunch, Friday night family dinners, dancing, camping and boating on the lake with her Captain. She cherished her time with "My Hubby!", family, grandkids and pets, Snickers and Willow. She adored her grandchildren and took great pride in being a Grandma. She made it a priority to attend every event or function they were a part of. She was devoted to being the best Mom to her kids and guided them daily with her love and faith. She also treasured her role as a beloved Daughter, Sister, Cousin, Friend and being Aunt P. Phyllis loved trips to West Virginia. It was her home away from home; almost heaven. She collected books and anything that held sentimental value. She was devoted to calendars, planners, lists and journals. Phyllis made everyone feel like family. She became a friend to everyone she met and was a natural nurturing leader. She was known for her bright smile and warm comforting hugs and will forever be missed.

Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Ed Cottongim of Plainfield; son, Nick Cottongim (Sierra); daughters, Lauren Cottongim (Angus Winsted), Morgan Cottongim (Conley Esamann); Mother, Mary Ramsey; sisters, Dee Dee Deakin, Lori Kemp; nieces and nephews and her grandchildren: Baylee, Makayla, Wyatt, Carson and Blaire. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 07, 2022 at the Plainfield Christian Church with Reverend Steve White officiating.
