Peggy Jean Lynch passed away on April 5, 2026, at the age of 83. She was born on January 24, 1943, in Indianapolis, to the late Urban Bernard Rief and Myrtle Fern Gibson Walker.
Peggy was a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She married Paul David Lynch on October 2, 1960, at the Danville Christian Church, and they shared 49 wonderful years until his passing on December 19, 2009.
Peggy worked for the Danville Community School Corporation for over 40 years, retiring in May 2012 as the Cafeteria manager at South Elementary. She was known for her generosity, dedication, and especially her cooking – her chocolate chip cookies, chicken and noodles, and peanut butter squares were treasured by all. She was also known for her great sense of humor, quick-wit, and her fun-loving spirit. She was a joy to be around.
She was a past member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority and a member at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Peggy also enjoyed bowling. She participated in a league with good friends for many years. She loved children and was a passionate sports enthusiast, spending countless hours cheering on her children and then her grandchildren in their activities. Her favorite times were spent surrounded by family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Kimberly Friar, Tammy (Steve) Knotts, and Shannon (Tom) Molloy, all of Danville; her 4 grandchildren, Lindsay Bradley (John Darlington), Andrea (Justin) Klopp, Tyler (Abbey) Bradley, and Mitchell Molloy; her 5 great grandchildren, Tessa Bradley, Jaxson and Cora Darlington, and Callum and Colbie Klopp; her siblings, Pat Willard, Jim Rief and Barbara Golay. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Paul David Lynch, and her brothers, Norbert Robert Rief and Bob (Dee) Dostin.
Peggy will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her life was a testament to love, dedication, and kindness, and her memory will forever be cherished.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Danville Christian Church. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of the service at the church. If you would like to donate in Peggy’s memory, please remember your favorite children’s charity. Baker Funeral Home in Danville is handling the arrangements.
