Obituary

Opal Irene Redding-Hensley, 91, of Greenwood, passed away on October 17, 2022.  She was born on July 15, 1931, in Indianapolis to the late Hazel (Arnold) and Victor Dorrell.  Opal was the widow of John L. Redding and Douglas Keith Hensley.  She worked as an administrative assistant for the State of Indiana for many years, retiring in 1984.  She was a member of the Hendricks County Flambeaus Camping Club, the Lazy Sam Camping Club, and a former member of the Cartersburg Community Church.  Survivors include her children, John E. Redding of Mooresville, Loren (Gene) Redding of Indianapolis, Vicki Reid of Indianapolis, and Karen Hibbard of Avon; 15 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded by her parents, a sister, Annetta Grace Hall, and her brother, James Victor Dorrell. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Ann Michael, and a son, Roger E. Redding.  Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2022, in Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield, with burial to follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Cartersburg.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the service time in the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 50 E 91st St Ste 100, Indianapolis, IN  46209-4830.
