Nelda R. Whitmore, 85 of Avon, passed away on February 07, 2026. She was born on August 29, 1940 in Tompkinsville, Kentucky, to the late Arlie (Farley) and Lawrence Deckard.

Nelda was a realtor for Century 21/Tucker Realty for 15 years before her retirement in 2008. She previously worked in sales of office equipment for AM Corp. in Indianapolis. Nelda was a Master Gardener specializing in hostas, ran the mini marathon for 10 plus years, was a wonderful cook and loved to travel. At 60 years old she rafted Snake River (largest tributary of the Columbia River) for 3 days.

Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Kim Whitmore of Avon; daughter, Jennifer Perkins (Mike) of Mooresville; son, John Whitmore (Kim) of Spring Hill, TN.; 5 grandchildren, Samantha, Alex, Corey, Ashley and was preceded in death by, Brian; 4 great grandchildren, Max, Nina, Austin and Cameron; brothers, Rondle and Bobby; sister, Sherry.

Her parents; grandson; and brothers, Cledith, Ivan and Claudie preceded her in death.

Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield, is handling the arrangements. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday April 19, 2026, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at The Country Club of Indianapolis 2801 Country Club Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46234.
