Obituary

Mildred Louise Myers, 90 of Danville, passed away on September 11, 2025.  She was born on November 04, 1934 in Danville to the late Lessie Marie (Brady) and Wilbur Virgil Walls.  Mildred attended Danville Schools and during this time she had a pet lizard and received the nickname of "Liz".  This name has followed her throughout her graduation in 1952 until today.  During the Cold War, she enlisted in the United States Navy from October 1953 until October 1957.  Liz raised five children and was very involved in their activities including being a school bus driver, Cub Scout Den Leader and a Girl Scout Leader.  She was simultaneously working on the farm and tending to the animals which she dearly loved.  Liz always had horses and rode, broke and trained many during her lifetime.  She also enjoyed her time spent riding for the Hendricks County Sheriff's Horse Patrol.  Later in life Liz went back to school for her nursing degree at Ivy Tech, in Indianapolis, Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana and finished at Marian College.  After 20 plus years and retiring three times, Liz became a foster parent to several children.  The first baby that she brought home from the hospital and at the age of 69, Liz chose to adopt and raise her sixth child, Amanda Jo.  Survivors include her children, Jerry, Janet (Dennis) Hogan, Jayne Clark, Jessica Scott, Amanda Jo; son-in-law, Duane Dillon, all of Danville; sister, Ina Mae Cox of Fairland; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jeanne Dillon; son-in-law, Gregg Scott and her brothers, Wayne, Don, Carl, Howard, Lawrence Walls and Murl Hershberger.  A funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm on Friday, September 12, 2025 at Baker Funeral Home in Danville.  Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 pm prior to the service.  Private burial will be held at Mill Creek Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Hendricks County Sheriff's K-9 fund.  Online condolences may be made at www.bakerfuneralservice.com
