Melvin A. Grubbs, 82 of Clayton, passed away December 10, 2016 in his residence.  Born on March 24, 1934 in Hustonville, KY., he was the son of Lucian Dwayne and Lillie May Edwards Grubbs.  He married Jeanne Wainwright and she preceded him in death in 1992.  Mr. Grubbs was a crossing watchman for Conrail for 25 years, retiring in 1980.  He then worked as a driver for Glaxo for 10 years.  He was a member of the Belleville Cross Point Assembly of God.  Melvin was a musician and loved music.  Survivors include his sons, Gary and Keith Grubbs; daughters, Kim Syra (James), Gigi Grubbs; brother, Paul Grubbs; sister, Lucille Sims; ten (10) grandchildren, twelve (12) great grandchildren and two (2) great-great grandchildren.  Services will be at 2:00 pm on Thursday, December 15, 2016 in Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield, with burial to follow in Clayton Cemetery.  Calling will be from 4:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 in the funeral home.
