Mary Lou Thomas, 80 of Danville, passed away on March 20, 2020. She was born on December 26, 1939 in Crawfordsville to the late Paul Everett and Anna Eleanor (Black) Shillings. Mary Lou married James E. Thomas on October 8, 1956 in Greencastle. She was a homemaker, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Mary Lou enjoyed sewing, crocheting, was a wonderful cook and loved being a grandmother and great grandmother. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, James E. Thomas of Danville; son, James L. Thomas of Pittsboro; daughters, Rita J. (Mike) Reynolds of Indianapolis, Mary Louise Penn (who preceded her in death in 1998); grandchildren, Kelly Sumner, Rachel Solenberg, Heather Penn, Jennifer Kraemer, Hillary Robinson, Trevor Leonard, Tyler Leonard and 13 great grandchildren. Mary Lou was one of 14 children including siblings, Shirley Champ, Barbara Ralston, Edna Baker, Robert Shillings, Carolyn Reynolds, Sara Carr, Dora Harvey, Dennis Shillings, Debbie Shillings, and Marlene Hurst. She was also preceded in death by Paul Leroy Shillings, Darlen Blackmore and Donald Shillings. Baker Funeral Home, Danville, is handling the arrangements. Services will be private due to the Covid-19 pandemic current restrictions in place. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
