Mary E. Merkley, age 92, of Plainfield, IN was called home to God on July 8, 2023 surrounded by family. She was born on January 15, 1931 in St. Anthony, IN to Leo and Rosa Julianna Klem Gish. She was the widow of Ralph E. Merkley. Mary was a homemaker and a long time member of St. Susanna Catholic Church in Plainfield, IN. She was an avid reader and enjoyed to quilt and garden. Survivors include her 8 Children: Marilyn (Ted) Buehler, Terry Merkley, Cathy (Stephen) Chrietzberg, Diana (Dan) Snyder, Marty Weinbrecht, Ron Merkley, Rita (James Lackey) Merkley and David (Candice Copeland) Merkley. Sister: Agnes Gish Merkley. Brother: Vincent Gish. 11 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be held at 12 noon on Thursday July 13, 2023 at St. Susanna Church 1210 East Main in Plainfield, IN with Father Rob Hausladen officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield, IN. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until Mass in the parish center at St. Susanna.
