IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marvin Joel
Mccloud
December 15, 1944 – October 16, 2025
Marvin "Joel" McCloud, 80 of Clayton, passed away surrounded by his family on October 16, 2025, at Hendricks Regional Hospital in Danville, Indiana. He was born in Brazil, Indiana on December 15, 1944, to the late Marvin Elmer and Thelma (Wilson) McCloud.
Joel married the love of his life, Helen Frances McCloud, in Terre Haute on November 20, 1965. They shared a devoted marriage until her passing. A proud graduate of Indiana State University, Joel earned his Bachelor of Science degree and began his professional career at State Farm, first as an adjustor and later in sales. He later spent many years as an industrial salesman for H.O. Trerice before his retirement.
In his younger years, Joel's adventurous spirit found expression on flat dirt tracks and in Hare Scramble races where he competed in motorcycle racing – a passion he cherished throughout his life. His fascination with engines and mechanics often led him to the garage, where he spent countless hours tinkering, fixing and rebuilding with care and precision.
Joel's love of golf and friendship flourished through his longtime membership at the Elks Lodge, where he served as Exalted Ruler and remained an active member until its closure. He later became a proud member of the Plainfield Eagles Lodge #3207 where he enjoyed the fellowship and camaraderie of its community.
Joel is survived by his daughter, Beth (John) Kahlow of Carmel, Indiana; son, Matthew J. McCloud of Springville, Indiana; and three beloved grandchildren, Brett, Jenna, and Bridget Kahlow. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Helen, and Sister Pat Koehler.
A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Hall-Baker Funeral Home, Plainfield, from 4:00 – 6:00 pm., with a memorial service immediately following at 6:00 pm.
