Lynn Ellen Blosser (neé Hillsamer) passed away on March 25, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was 75 years old. Lynn was born on September 7, 1950, in Marion, Indiana, to Mark and Bertha Hillsamer. Diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis as a child, Lynn endured health challenges from an early age that necessitated hospital stays and time in a wheelchair. However, she overcame these challenges to enjoy a vibrant childhood with her parents and five brothers and sisters. Lynn was a gifted musician and actress who fondly remembered singing soprano in church choirs, performing in Community Theater, and playing flute in marching band. Her love of conducting emerged in high school when she would fill in for the band director when he was absent, foreshadowing the life of musical leadership that was to come.
Lynn graduated from Marion High School in 1969 and attended Indiana Central College (now the University of Indianapolis) majoring in music. Following graduation, her musical life brought her to Fort Wayne and Good Shepherd United Methodist Church where she became the music director. There, she met Rev. Theodore Blosser, and the two later married. Lynn’s life with Ted was a beautiful partnership, and their shared ministry at Good Shepherd left a lasting legacy. Lynn volunteered countless hours to the church directing plays, teaching Bible studies, leading music, and serving on committees. In particular, Lynn started a youth choir at Good Shepherd called Teen Rejoice that grew to over fifty participants. Ted and Lynn also served churches in Bristol, Portage, and Zionsville before landing at Plainfield United Methodist Church. Lynn’s time at PUMC was one of strong friendships and wonderful musical memories. Following Ted’s passing in 2015, Lynn continued to minister at the church for ten more years as their choir and hand bell director, planning concerts and teaching Bible studies.
Even more than music, central to Lynn’s life was her unwavering faith in God. Seemingly every waking moment of Lynn’s life was spent in service to her beliefs. She spent hours in deliberate, intentional prayer. She prioritized personal holiness at all times. She cared deeply for all people, whether they were close friends or recent acquaintances. She always made herself available, always found time, and always offered to help. Lynn was not a person who liked to sit still; she thrived on purpose and sought out meaningful work. Although her health issues compounded over the course of her life, leading to new diagnoses and serious surgeries, Lynn continued to use the gifts the Lord had given her to make the world around her a more excellent place.
Lynn was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Theodore Blosser; her parents, Mark and Bertha Hillsamer; and her brother, Terry Hillsamer. She is survived by her son, Daniel Blosser (Susan); her grandchildren, Andrew Blosser and Benjamin Blosser; her sisters, Ann McCracken (Richard, deceased), Gale Storen (Sean), and Kelly King (Paul); and her brother, John Hillsamer (Verna).
Visitation will be on Saturday, April 11 from 12-3 pm at Plainfield United Methodist Church, and the memorial service will follow at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Madina Village School P.O. Box 15869 Fort Wayne, Indiana 46885 or the Plainfield United Methodist Music Ministry 600 Simmons Street Plainfield, Indiana 46168
