Lois Ray, age 91, of Plainfield, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2024. She was born on February 22, 1933, in Stanford, Kentucky to the late Martin Luther Earles and Rose Lucas Earles. She was the widow of Justin Y. Ray. She worked alongside her husband for the Indiana Department of Corrections for several years before her retirement. Lois was a faithful member of St. Susanna Catholic Church in Plainfield and Mary Queen of Peace Church in Danville, where she volunteered for more than twenty years in the parish office. She was also very involved with the Art and Environment Committee. She enjoyed reading, word puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and in her earlier years antiquing. She had a love for card playing. If she wasn't your partner in Euchre, you might as well count on losing. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday June 28, 2024, at St. Susanna Catholic Church. A funeral mass will follow at 12 noon with entombment to follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield. A luncheon will be provided by the church after burial. Survivors include her daughter: Karen Butterfield (Mark). Sons: Dan Ray, Jeff Ray (Linda) and Tim Ray (Ginger).6 Grandchildren and 9 Greatgrandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
