(Haines) Walker
June 21, 1949 – March 5, 2018
Linda Beth Walker, 68, of Plainfield, passed away March 5, 2018. Born on June 21, 1949, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of the late Malcolm Everett and Melba Lucille (Stadtman) Haines. Linda graduated from Plainfield High School in 1967 and attended Ball State University, where she pledged Sigma Kappa in 1968.
Linda married Harlie Dale Walker on June 12, 1976, in the Plainfield United Methodist Church. Linda was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother who always found happiness through the joy of others. Her sharing of love was widespread and boundless.
During her life, Linda worked for several financial institutions and made an unforgettable impact. This impact was not only felt within the credit union industry, but among her coworkers as well. Linda began working for the Greater Indianapolis Firefighters Credit Union in 1979. She left in 1982 to work for re:Member Data Services and helped them to flourish until her departure in 1990. She then created her own business, Walker Consulting, working from home until 1993 when she joined Link Federal Credit Union. Then in 1995, Linda returned to Greater Indianapolis Firefighters Credit Union. Linda retired in 2017 as the CEO/President of Firefighters Credit Union.
Survivors include her husband Harlie, of Plainfield; sons, Jacob Daniel Walker of Indianapolis, Christopher Haines Walker of Plainfield; grandchildren, Elijah James Walker, Maggie Luann (Star) Walker and Harlie Gibson Walker.
A celebration of life will be held on March 17, 2018, at Hall-Baker Funeral Home in Plainfield. The celebration visitation hours are from 2:00-5:00pm. At 5:00pm, a celebration service will begin and conclude at 6:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Indiana University School of Medicine, to support ALS Research. Please make checks payable to the IU Foundation–School of Medicine. Please indicate "In memory of Linda Walker, account I380009909 (ALS Research)"
