Leland "Joe" Salyers, 86 of Danville, passed away on September 21, 2024.  He was born on November 05, 1937 in Casey County, Kentucky, to the late Ola Marie (Bastin) and Coyle Salyers.  Joe married Joyce A. Wilcox on January 18, 1958 in Leesville, Indiana, and they were married 53 years before her death on June 29, 2011.  Joe was a member of Local #60 and worked as a carpenter for over 50 years retiring in 2002.  Survivors include his children, Jeffrey Joe Salyers and wife, Anita of New Maysville, Jill Ann Birchler and husband, Randy of Avon, Jerilyn Renea Fisher and husband, Greg of Martinsville; siblings, Shannon "Dale" Salyers and wife, Barbara of Austin, IN, Louise Lacer of Austin, Connie Wilcox of Austin; 6 grandchildren, Hillary Corbitt and husband, Steven of Warsaw, Chase Salyers and fiancée, Elena Baker of Fairborn, OH, Stephanie Birchler of Avon, Ashley Hall and husband, Parker of Danville, Ryne Birchler of Avon, Alyssa Perry and husband, Kristofer of Lebanon; and 4 great grandchildren, Lyla and Clara Corbitt, Colton and Hudson Perry.  His parents; wife, Joyce Salyers; brother, Chester Merle Salyers; and sisters, Faustine Whitney and Diana "Faye" Sandlin, preceded him in death.  Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 in Baker Funeral Home, Danville, with burial to follow in Danville South Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the service time in the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
